The college had begun in the year 1976 and grew into a pioneer institution of the town. When this institution was started there was no separate degree college for women in the near by towns. The management deemed it an acute necessity to have a college, catering solely for girl students. Keeping this in view, the former secretary and Correspondent of The Hindu College, Machilipatnam sowed the seed of Sri Padmavathi Mahila Hindu Kalasala.
